Why bet on Eurovision 2025?

The 2025 edition of the event is the first time in a long time that there has not been just one clear favourite in the market. Unfortunately of the five front runners this year, Germany is not one of them. In fact they are outsiders with odds over 100/1 at many places. Regardless of this the event remains as popular as ever in Germany and is likely to be viewed by just as many as before, last year In 2024, roughly 170 million TV viewers around the world watched the Swiss singer Nemo win the final with his song “The Code”. Betting this year is trending largely because of the unpredictability in choosing a🀅 winner, any of Sweden, Austria, France, Israel and The Netherlands all having a good chance.

What is there to know about Eurovision 2025

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will be the 69th edition of the contest. This year it is hosted by Switzerland because they were the winners in the previous year. The contest is organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and will consist of two semi-finals on 13 and 15 May, and a final on 17 May 2025. In total thirty-seve🎶n countries will participate in the contest with six countries (the host country Switzerland plus the "Big Five" countries France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) certain to ꧃be in the final. These six will be joined by the top ten from each semi final to make a twenty-six country final.

Eurovision 2025 German Representative

Germany wiౠll be represented at the Eurovision Song Contest by Austrian music duo Attila (born 1998) and Tünde (born 2000) Bornemisza. They specialise in pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. Their Eurovision song "Baller" fits this bill, The song was self written and produced by the duo alongside producer Alexander Hauer and is the first song that is sung entirely in German to represent the country since 2007.

In 2024 the entry "Always on the Run" placed 12th and being realistic it is unlikely “Baller” will do a lot🃏 better. With the song b♊eing sung in German it will be hard to win the public vote across Europe and there is nothing technically unique to impress the professional judges so it is not clear where their points will come from. The song only reached number 13 in the German charts, so it is not even that popular in the country that understands what they are singing about!

You can listen to the song and judge for yourself here:

How to bet on Eurovision?

To bet on Eurovision is not really any different to betting on anything else. It is very easy to do as you wꦚill see when we explain the pಞrocess here:

  1. Find a site that looks like it is the best for you, we have listed some of our favorites above in this article.
  2. Log in or if you are not yet a customer then open a new account by giving all the relevant personal and payment method details.
  3. Deposit the amount that you want to bet making sure that it is not more than you would be willing to lose. Also remember to check if this method qualifies for the welcome bonus or not should that be something you are interested in.
  4. Go to the “Specials” betting area, and from there choose “Music: and then Eurovision should be listed.
  5. Go to the relevant market that you are interested in, they should all have odds on who is going to win.
  6. The odds will be displayed next to every country, click this number next to your choice and it will be added it to your betslip.
  7. On the betslip enter the amount that you want to bet, and then confirm the bet. It is as simple as that.

The voting for the winner of ♍the contest has changed over time and these days each country awards two different sets of points, one coming from a public vote within that country andꦰ the other from a professional jury. Each awards points to their top ten songs, with the first position receiving 12 points, 2nd place 10 points, and then descending 8 points for third, 7 points for 4th, 6 points for 5th, etc, etc.

After every country has delivered their scores and the votes have been tallied, whoever has the most at the end of the night is the winner. It is possible to be a tie and t✃his has happened before! In 1969, 4 countries topped the scoreboard with an equal amount of points; the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands, and France. Without any proper rules in place for what to do if this happens the organisers had to declare all four contestants as the winner.

To prevent this from happening again these days the rules are that if the total points are scored then whoever has the most maximum scores wins (a bit like the goal difference in football). If that is a tie then who has the most second places. Then if that is a t𝐆ie who came third the most, etc, etc. If they still can not be separated after going all the way down then both countries are declared the winner!

Eurovision favourites according to the bookmakers

This year as we approach the semi final stage there are five countries that stand out at the bookmakers as being the favorites to take the Eurovision crown this year. All are available at under 10/1 and although the odds will vary from betting site to betting site the best odds that we found for each of the favourite♐s were:

The odds are likely to change after the Semi Final stage, at the moment only France is guaranteed to be in the final as one of the “Big Six” who get aut🍨omatic entry. The odds on the rest will likely change depending on how they score in the Semi Final voting which will give a good indication of their popularity going into the final. Although very unlikely it is possible that other than France those countries may not even qualify for the final, which the odds also have to reflect. Arguably the odds on everyone could come in once we are at the Final stage it is just a matter of who will come in the most. To get the best odds, it i✤s often wise to get your bets on early.

Tips for advanced players

Eurovision betting is not as random as you might think, there are actually seveꦆral things to take into account and certain nu🅺ances that you may not have previously thought about. We will list a few of the tips and tricks that we have learned over the years whilst betting on Eurovision:

 Eurovision pre-match betting tips

  • Get the best odds - It might seem obvious but you will win more money if you place your bets at higher odds. Shop around the top betting sites and see what odds they are offering on your selections, if you are betting on more than one country split your bets up between more than one betting site, getting the best odds possible at each.
  • Look for bonuses & boosts - Check to see if there are any bonuses or promotions offered around Eurovision bets that you could take advantage of. Sometimes countries will have their odds boosted, at other times perhaps you will get a Free bet refund if you lose to a certain other country. Whatever the offer is check to see if you can use it to increase the value of your bet.
  • Know your politics - Although it is better than it was and the organisers have actively put in measures to prevent it, it is simply a fact that some countries are “friends” and some countries are “enemies”. Greece and Cyprus nearly always award each other maximum points and it has become a running joke amongst the commentators. Other countries seem to never, or rarely award points even if the other country goes on to win which may be a coincidence but is suspicious. At the extreme level we have in 2022 the competition being won by Ukraine which had nothing whatsoever to do with the song and everything to do with a sympathy vote because of the Russian invasion. These things do happen, and at least being aware of the political landscape when voting is really good info for you to take into account.
  • Research the singers - Try to check how popular the singers are not just in their countries but across Europe. If there is a “superstar” singing then even if the song is not the best they will have “fans” that vote for them regardless. Remember the quality of the song is not the only thing that people vote for. Also don't just consider if they are well known and popular in your country, try to find out how popular they are everywhere else.

 Eurovision in-play betting tips

  • Know the voting order - Given that some countries tend to follow trends with voting, for example Scandinavian countries will likely have similar tastes, and we have talked already about how some countries have friends and enemies, you should be able to predict roughly how certain countries will vote. Combining this with the running order of votes in play you may be able to see that although a country is behind now they are about to get votes from a group of “friendly” countries so chances are that the gap may close. Use this sort of analysis to make a road map of how you expect the voting to go and place your bets accordingly.
  • Be prepared to change your mind - At Eurovision anything can happen, be prepared to change your mind and adapt to the situation as it happens. Remember having a good song alone does not win Eurovision. Look at how the crowd react, look at the early voting trends, look at the available odds, and then place bets that correspond to this information.

Germany at Eurovision

Germany has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest sixty-seven times since the first contest in 1956 making Germany the country with the most entries in the contest! They have won the contest on two occasions: in 1𝓀9🔯82 and more recently in 2010.

If we look back🌄 over the past fifteen years they have not fared pretty badly if truth be told. They have come very last four times and second from last in three more!
